Work is set to begin Monday on Maple Avenue and 105th Street for a road improvement project.

Weather permitting, Maple Avenue will be closed to thru traffic from the north Kalona corporation line to Washington/Johnson Road. Also, 105th Street between Maple Avenue and Nutmeg Avenue will be closed. Crews will salvage the existing rock surface, grade the road to restore its shape, improve ditch drainage, and then five inches of new rock will be placed and the road stabilized. The $247,000 project will be done by Cornerstone Excavating, Inc., of Washington. Access to local businesses and residences will be maintained, but access may be limited from one direction or another. If traveling in the work zone, obey all signs and directions.
