High school students who plan to attend the Kirkwood Washington Regional Center in the fall for concurrent credit classes need to attend an orientation session this spring.

Director of the Center Tera Pickens explains each session is geared toward certain academies, so the first one will be information technology, hospitality management, patient care, and EMT. The second will be for auto technology, auto collision, advance manufacturing, welding, engineering, and water environmental technology. And the third session is for arts and science and business.

Pickens shares why many students decide to take these free courses, “The no cost is just a great benefit, but really the main reason why students are attending is that career exploration piece, to determine while they’re in high school what are they interested in, what are they good at, and kind of help better define what their post-secondary life is going to look like.”

The sessions are April 18th, April 25th, and May 2nd at the Kirkwood Washington Regional Center and registration is recommended by contacting the center.
