Washington, Iowa, is being featured in Buenos Aires, Argentina, this weekend with a festival screening of Saving Brinton. The documentary that follows local historian Michael Zahs on his journey to preserve and share some of the world’s oldest films that belonged to Washington residents Frank and Indiana Brinton more than a century ago has added another stamp to its passport. The film was selected for the BAFICI festival.

Saving Brinton will soon be making its theatrical debuts in New York and Los Angeles, but to do so funds are being raised to help with promotion. The goal is to raise $35,000 through Kickstarter and so far just under $30,000 has been raised. Through theatrical runs in both New York and L.A., Saving Brinton would become Academy Award qualifying. There’s less than three weeks left to raise the remaining funds.
