A Wellman man died in a farming accident Monday afternoon.

According to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, at 1:14 p.m. emergency personnel responded to a fatal farming accident at 4737 Blackhawk Avenue Southwest in rural Johnson County. A chemical sprayer had struck and run over 65-year-old Merlyn Yoder. He died at the scene. The incident is under investigation by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Wellman Fire Department, Johnson County Ambulance Service, and the Johnson County Medical Examiner assisted as well.
