A juvenile eagle was injured after being hit by a car near Wayland Sunday morning.

According to the Washington County Communications Office, at 10:30 a.m. a caller told dispatch that she believed she’d hit an eagle in the middle of the road near Wayland Road and 330th Street. A Washington County Sheriff’s deputy responded and saw a juvenile eagle in the ditch that was able to fly away to a nearby field. Authorities contacted residents in the area and made them aware in case it stays in the area. Authorities may return with staff from the raptor center to assist if needed.
