Elizabeth Syperda

A verdict has been given in the cold case murder trial of 22-year-old Elizabeth Syperda.

According to state court records, District Court Judge Mark Kruse has filed a guilty verdict for 53-year-old Michael Lee Syperda for murder in the first degree in the death of his estranged wife. Syperda waived his right to a jury trial after a Grand Jury indicted him on November 29, 2017. Elizabeth’s July 2000 disappearance in Mt. Pleasant was classified as a homicide after the investigation into her disappearance was reopened in March 2017. Syperda’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for August 23rd at 1 p.m. at the Henry County Courthouse.
