A total of 116 people voted in the Washington special election Tuesday.
Voters elected Danielle Pettit-Majewski to represent Ward 1 with 54 votes. Washington County Auditor Dan Widmer tells KCII Radio the election went very well and that about 10% of eligible voters cast their ballots, which is about what he would expect for a race without up-ticket candidates. Widmer says he would like to thank the poll workers, as they do a fantastic job, are dedicated, and without their help, the election couldn’t have happened. While the final costs are still being compiled, Widmer estimates the special election cost approximately $1,000 to $1,200.
