The Lone Tree girls’ basketball team will open up their season on Monday night, taking on Superconference foe Danville.
The Lions are looking to build off of a down year in which they won four of their 22 games. They lost four seniors from last year’s group, including leading scorer and rebounder Riley Warson. But it’s a new season, and a new opportunity to get things going in the right direction. And so far, head coach Jonathon Harshman is liking what he’s seeing.
“I really like where we’re at in terms of out practice habits,” Harshman said. “We’ve been able to string multiple days of getting after it together rather than being kind of sporadic and all over the place with our practices. The girls have done a good job of focusing in and have really gone to work. That’s been encouraging for us as coaches.”
They’ll have their work cut out for them in their season opener, taking on a Danville team who went 20-5 last year and is returning many key pieces. Tipoff in Lone Tree is scheduled for 6:00.
