The WACO boys’ basketball team will start off their season at home on Tuesday against some fierce competition, taking on 2017-18 state tournament participant Wapello.
The Warriors are coming back after a 10-12 season a year ago. That squad saw just four seniors graduate. Their top three scorers from a season ago are all back this year, including Nik Coble, who averaged a double-double.
Wapello, meanwhile, ended last season on a loss to the eventual state runners-up, finishing with a 23-2 record and, effectively, the number 11 ranking in class 2A. They lost a lot of seniors from a year ago, however, including a 22.5-point scorer and their second-leading rebounder in Trenton Massner.
Tip off in Wayland is set for 7:30.
