Decorated with mittens, scarves, hats, and socks, the Mitten Tree at the Washington Public Library aims to help keep people warm. The special tree is an annual holiday tradition. It is in the entryway of the library. Library director Bryna Walker says it is decked out, “It’s a beautiful tree right now. A lot of crocheted items are on there. Yes, we’re still accepting donations until December 14th and then we’ll start distributing them. HACAP, the schools, the police department, CHOICES and Lending Hands will all be places that we disperse the mittens, gloves, hats, scarves that are donated to it.” Handmade items are appreciated. Donations will be accepted until December 14th.
