The Washington wrestling team has seen a lot of success this season, with a lot of guys winning a lot of matches. As a result, three different wrestlers ended up ranked in Class 2A in recent polls.
The Predicament, an organization that’s covered wrestling in the state of Iowa since 1970, released a new set of high school rankings on Dec. 13, their first list since the preseason rankings they released on Nov. 26. Three Demons ended up on that list.
Tristin Westphal-Edwards started the season out ranked second in the 170 weight class. But he’s wrestled 182 all year, and the newest rankings updated that, putting him at the same spot in the 182 weight class. He currently sits at 21-0 on the season.
Walker Ikerd ended up tenth on the rankings in the 120 weight class after starting off the season unranked on the Predicament poll. He has lost twice on the season at this point, once by medical forfeit in the Mount Vernon tournament and once to Waukee’s Nick Miller, who is ranked eighth by The Predicament in the Class 3A poll.
Garrett Ikerd also climbed into the rankings after an unranked start, earning the seventh spot in the 138 weight class. He has also lost twice, once to Waukee’s Cody Anderson (ranked third in class 3A) and once to nationally-ranked wrestler Cobe Siebrect out of Lisbon.
