Despite Mother Nature’s best efforts, the WACO Warrior Wrestling Invitational was held on Saturday, with a couple of our area teams competing.
WACO hosted, of course, but also saw some success on the mats, taking fourth as a team. Three Warriors took home second in their weight classes: Jalen Collins at 126, Robert Frazer at 145 and Kade McKinney at 285. Larz Smith (106) and Jonah Clark (120) each took third in their weight classes as well.
Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union was also there, finishing just two team points behind WACO to take fifth overall. Jarod Kadel rolled through the 138 weight class to take first, pinning his first two opponents in 1:18 and 18 seconds, respectively. Chance Malone took second in the 220, losing only by a three-point decision in the championship match.
