The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams are back in Wellman Tuesday night to take on the Tipton Tigers.

The Mid-Prairie girls enter with an overall record of 9-5 after an overtime loss to West Liberty Friday night 38-35. In that game the Golden Hawks were led by Shae Becker’s 11 points. For the season, Mid-Prairie is led by Becker scoring 14 points per game, fifth in the River Valley Conference. She also leads Mid-Prairie on the glass with 92 total rebounds, seventh in the RVC. Kessa Jones has the team lead with 32 assists, sixth in the River Valley.

Tipton comes in with an overall record of 6-6. The Tigers beat Iowa City Regina Friday 57-54. On the season, the Tigers are led by Amanda Smith scoring 19 points per game, second in the River Valley. Her 94 rebounds are most on the team and sixth in the league. Emily Hermsen leads the Tigers with 37 assists, third in the River Valley. These two teams met in November with Mid-Prairie scoring a 52-46 road win.

The Golden Hawk boys enter play with an overall record of 7-6. The Hawks have won back-to-back games, their most recent a 78-61 win over West Liberty Friday. Tom Butters led the way with 30 points and 16 rebounds. For the year Butters and Cale Robertson are tied for the team lead averaging 14 points per game, eighth in the River Valley Conference. Butters leads class 2A with 159 rebounds. Brad Tornow leads the RVC and is seventh in the state with 74 assists.

Tipton comes into the game with an overall record of 7-5. they fell to Regina Friday 69-56. Andrew Stewart had 20 points to lead the Tigers. For the season Stewart leads the Tigers and is sixth in the conference with 15 points per game. Trent Pelzer paces the Tigers with 32 assists seventh in the RVC. Frank Bierman leads the Tigers on the boards with 135 rebounds, second in the RVC. These two teams met to open the season with the Golden Hawks dropping the road contest 68-59.
