Several revised policies went into effect after the recent Mid-Prairie School Board meeting.

Five policies in total were passed on their second reading. One is an updated conduct policy regarding students involved in athletics, arts, and school leadership. Activities Director Tyler Holtz sought clarity in the original policy and he proposed the changes to disciplinary time penalties between the different groups. The new policy separates athletics from arts and leadership.

For athletics, a student will be suspended for one-third of the competition season for their first violation, two-thirds for their second, and 12 calendar months for their third. For arts and leadership, the discipline is based on number of days. For a student’s first offense, they will be ineligible for 60 days, 180 days for their second, and 12 calendar months for their third. Other policies that passed involved clarifying dates for school board elections and terms, public participation at board meetings, and receiving public complaints about employees.
