PAWS and More Animal Shelter is turning to the City of Kalona for assistance in a recent feline surplus.

Shelter Director Amber Talbott spoke at the recent Kalona City Council meeting, asking for financial assistance due to a heavy increase in stray cats from Kalona being turned in to the shelter. Talbott says the shelter saw a 60% increase in cat intake stemming from a mobile home community in Kalona. The request given to the council was up to a $5,000 increase in the 2019 budget. The topic will be formally discussed during the February 4th council meeting.
