A winter storm warning continues until 9 a.m. Wednesday for Washington, Louisa, Jefferson, Johnson, Keokuk, and Iowa Counties. The National Weather Service advises there will be bands of moderate to briefly heavy snow impacting eastern Iowa through mid- to late-morning with an additional snowfall of one to three inches. Blowing and drifting is expected in open and rural areas with winds gusting up to 25 miles per hour. Travel will be difficult.
According to Washington County Communications Office, there were nine traffic accidents in Washington County between 6:30 a.m. Tuesday and 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. At 9:33 a.m. Tuesday two vehicles collided at 220th Street and Riverside Road with one person complaining of her hand and waist area hurting. The two drivers were Rebecca Hathaway of Washington and Andrew Drahota of Washington. Washington County Ambulance, Washington County Sheriff’s personnel, Washington Fire Department, and Washington Rescue responded. There was no medical transport. A stop sign that was hit was replaced by the county roads department. There were no citations issued.
At 10:45 a.m. Tuesday a truck and trailer jackknifed on 250th Street near Washington completely blocking the road. The truck was driven away and the gooseneck trailer was left at a residence. No injuries were reported.
Tow bans were issued Tuesday in Washington County and have been carried through Wednesday morning.
