Washington has received nearly 10 inches above normal snowfall for January. According to the National Weather Service, the normal amount of snowfall in the first 24 days of January is 4.8 inches and 14 inches was observed. So far this winter, including November and December totals, Washington has had 26.1 inches of snow. That’s more than a foot above the normal 11.5 inches. The record was set in 1979 with 35 inches.

So far this year the average temperature has been 26.3 degrees, above the normal 20.8 degrees. Temperatures are expected to be colder than normal this weekend and stay well below freezing with a chance for more snow Sunday and Monday. Listen to KCII for weather updates.
