A wind chill warning is in effect until noon today for a portion of eastern Iowa. The National Weather Service has issued the warning for dangerously cold wind chills as low as 35 degrees below zero. The warning is for Washington, Keokuk, Iowa, and Johnson Counties, as well as counties north of I-80. The NWS advises that these wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 15 minutes. Overnight Thursday into Friday in Washington temperatures dropped to -13 degrees and there were wind chills of 29 below.
