The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams are on the road Saturday to face Regina in Iowa City.
The Mid-Prairie boys enter action with an 8-7 overall record after falling to Camanche on Monday. On the season, the Golden Hawks are led by Tom Butters and Cale Robertson, each scoring 14 points per game, eighth best in the River Valley South. Butters leads all of 2A on the glass with 176 rebounds. Brad Tornow leads the RVC and is ninth in the state with 81 assists.
Iowa City Regina enters tonight with an overall record of 11-2. They beat Wilton on Tuesday 56-42. On the season the Regals are led by Masen Miller at 20 points per game, best in the RVC south. He also leads the team with 35 assists, seventh in the RVC south and has the team lead with 61 rebounds. These two teams met earlier this season with Regina scoring a 61-40 win.
The Mid-Prairie girls come into the night with an overall record of 10-6, dropping their contest with Camanche on Monday 48-38. On the year the Golden Hawks are led by Shae Becker scoring 13 points per game, seventh in the RVC south. She also leads Mid-Prairie with 101 rebounds, seventh in the RVC. Kessa Jones leads the Hawks with 35 assists, seventh in the RVC.
Regina enters play with an overall record of 6-9, last game they beat North Cedar 61-34. On the year the Regals are led by Sam Greving and Kennedy Wallace each at 14 points per game, fifth in the RVC. Claire Gaarde and Wallace lead the Regals with 36 assists each, sixth in the RVC. Greving has the team lead with 109 boards, sixth in the RVC. These two teams met earlier in the year with Mid-Prairie taking a 51-44 win in Wellman.
