The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk and Columbus-Winfield-Mt. Union wrestling teams were in action Saturday at the Class 2A sectional meet at Solon High School. Columbus placed fifth of six teams at the event with 112 points. The Wildcats qualified two wrestlers for districts next week as Jarod Kadel took the championship at 138lbs by 12-2 major decision and Lane Scorpil moved on with a second place finish at 106.
Mid-Prairie was sixth of six teams with an overall score of 102 points. Mid-Prairie had two wrestlers move on with Isaac Boucher taking the title at 195lbs by 8-3 decision and Colton Allen finish second at 182lbs. After the meet, Boucher talked about the championship match. “Keep scoring points, good things happen when you score points and get up. This is a pretty good feeling, big change from last year, it happened pretty quick.”
The Golden Hawk and Wildcat wrestlers will be in action at Saturday’s district meet at Washington High School.
