The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams are back on the court tonight when they take on the Wilton Beavers in a River Valley Conference doubleheader.
The Mid-Prairie girls are coming off of a 49-40 loss to West Branch on Friday dropping their overall record to 11-8. Shae Becker led the way for Mid-Prairie with 11 points. On the season, Becker has the team lead with 13 points per game, seventh in the River Valley Conference. She is also best on the team with 116 rebounds, ninth in the RVC. Kessa Jones has the team lead with 45 assists, seventh in the River Valley.
Wilton comes into the game with an overall record of 17-2. The Beavers beat Tipton last time out 62-50, behind 30 points from Emily Lange. The Beavers are currently ranked 13th in class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. The Beavers are led on the season by Emily Lange who is best in class 2A scoring 24 points per game. Kortney Drake has the team lead with 92 assists, sixth in class 2A and Aubrey Putman is best on the team and second in the RVC with 158 rebounds. These two teams met in December with Wilton taking a 61-24 win.
The Mid-Prairie boys enter the game with an overall record of 9-9. Last time on the floor they fell to West Branch Friday 74-62 despite 22 points from Tom Butters. On the season, Butters and Cale Robertson are tied for the team lead at 14 points per game, eighth in the River Valley Conference. Butters is best in the state on the glass with 202 rebounds. Brad Tornow is eighth in class 2A with 91 assists.
The Wilton boys come into the contest with an overall record of 3-15. Last time out they were beaten by Tipton 68-51. On the season, the Beavers are led by Jared Townsend scoring 17 points per game, fifth in the River Valley. He also leads the team with 34 assists, and paces the Beavers on the glass with 140 rebounds, third in the RVC. These two teams met in December with the Golden Hawks taking a 74-48 win.
