The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams hosted Wilton Monday night in a makeup River Valley Conference doubleheader.
In a pair of games heard on KCII, the No. 13 ranked Wilton girls scored a win, while the Mid-Prairie boys defended their home court. The Wilton girls took their contest by a 59-49 score. The Beavers built an early lead of nine in the first half but Mid-Prairie hung around and chipped away, trailing by just three at the break. In the second half, the Golden Hawks would get within one but the Beavers hit clutch shots and clutch free throws down the stretch to hold off Mid-Prairie. Shae Becker led the way for the Golden Hawks with 16 points. With the loss, Mid-Prairie is now 11-9 on the year.
Things were tight early in the boys game before the Hawks ran away with a 71-55 win. The first half featured back and forth offense with Mid-Prairie holding a slim 33-32 lead going to the locker room. In the second half the Golden Hawks got some breathing room with a 13-4 run and finished things with an 8-0 run in the fourth quarter to put the game away. After the game, Mid-Prairie head coach Daren Lambert talked about the team win.

Dominick Pickard led the way for the Golden Hawks with 17 points. Chaz Patterson and Ethan Trimpe each had 12 while Tom Butters and Cale Robertson added 10 apiece. With the win, the Golden Hawks are now 10-9 on the year.
