The WACO basketball teams played host to Superconference foe Danville in a doubleheader last night, with the girls taking the loss and the boys picking up the win.

The girls’ game was first, with the Warriors losing 50-27.  WACO struggled to get things going offensively, scoring eight points in the first half and only adding three more in the third quarter.  They put up 14 as a team in the fourth, but Danville’s 34 first-half points were enough to put the Bears over the top right off the bat.  Kristen Conley and Clara Schmitz led the way for the Warriors, each scoring eight points.  The loss moves them to 7-15.

The boys’ game was next, with the Warriors taking an 11-point win.  It was a huge game offensively for the Warriors, as they put up a season-high 90 points as a team.  Two Warriors put up 20 or more, with Nik Coble tying his career high with 33 points and Braden Hammond scoring 20 points even.  WACO improves to 13-4 with the win.

The boys’ next action comes tonight when they head to Van Buren.  The girls’ regular season is now over, with their first postseason round coming on Thursday against Winfield-Mt. Union.
