While the annual week-long Washington County Fair is still months away, a new one-night social event is coming to town. It is called the Washington Winter County Fair. The event will include dinner, a chainsaw art auction, and a 50/50 raffle. Organizer Janelle Johnson explains it’s a chance to see fair friends outside of the busy fair schedule, “With the county fair in the summer, it can be very chaotic. There’s, you know, ‘I’ve got to get my kid ready to show. I’ve got to get livestock chores done. I’ve got to get my projects to be judged on time.’ So there’s just a lot that surrounds that. And so this will just be a chance for everybody to get together for an evening and enjoy food, and fellowship, and fun. So essentially it’ll just be a fun night out.”

Since the chainsaw carving auction had to be cancelled in the summer due to a storm, it’ll be held at the winter fair. Proceeds from the event will benefit Washington County 4-H and the Washington County Fair Association. It will be held at the KC Hall in Washington on March 2nd and tickets are available now at the Washington County Extension Office. One ticket is $25 and a pair is $40.
