February in southeast Iowa is off to a cool, slick, snowy start. While ice and sleet fell already this week, snow is on the way. Tuesday’s winter storm left freezing rain and sleet across the area with a light glaze of ice. Some thunder was also heard Tuesday afternoon in Washington County. A second winter storm Wednesday into Thursday morning brought freezing rain and sleet. This weekend, snow is expected Saturday night into Sunday afternoon. With the recent wintry weather, ice jams are possible on rivers in eastern Iowa due to snow melt and cold temperatures. Listen to KCII for weather updates.
