The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys basketball team is scheduled to hit the road Thursday for a makeup River Valley Conference contest with the Monticello Panthers.
The Golden Hawks come into the day with an overall record of 10-9 after a 71-55 win over the Wilton Beavers on Monday. Dominic Pickard led the Golden Hawks with 18 points. On the season, Mid-Prairie is led by Tom Butters and Cale Robertson, each with 13 points per game, eighth in the River Valley Conference. Butters leads the state in class 2A with 217 rebounds while Brad Tornow is best in the conference and eighth in 2A with 97 assists.
Monticello is 12-4 coming into tonight. The Panthers lost to Anamosa last time out 64-48. On the season Monticello is led by Justin Recker at 19 points per game, third in the River Valley Conference. He also has the team lead and is fourth in the conference with 119 rebounds. Luke Lambert leads the Panthers with 73 assists, fifth in the RVC. These two teams met a season ago with Mid-Prairie scoring a 50-44 win. Action begins tonight at 7:30 at Monticello High School.
