The Highland wrestling team had a successful sectional round this past weekend, sending six guys forward to districts this Saturday in Wilton.
Three Huskies took first in their respective weight classes. Brady Hahn ran away with the 145 weight class, automatically being placed in the first-place match due to seeding and pinning his opponent with 30 seconds left in the second period. Cory Stewart was in the same boat as Hahn and won his match via injury. Dan Burton rounded out the champions at 160 by winning both of his matches, pinning his first opponent in 1:31 and winning the first-place match by a 2-0 decision. Geoff Streb, Jordan Sosa and Cael Yeggy also advanced, taking second, none of whom required a wrestle-back. The Huskies also grabbed the team title to advance to the regional duals tournament, but could not make it up to Denver last night and took the forfeit as a result.
Saturday’s district round for Highland will be at Wilton High School with action starting at noon.
