The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls basketball team has a tall task ahead of them Wednesday night in the class 3A regional semifinals when they travel to Center Point-Urbana to take on the No. 3 ranked Stormin’ Pointers. 

The Golden Hawks are 12-9 on the season after advancing through Mount Vernon in the first round by a 48-42 score behind 15 points from Shae Becker and 11 from Caitlyn Riggan. On the season the Hawks are led by Becker, scoring 13 points per game, seventh in the River Valley. Becker also leads the Golden Hawks on the glass with 132 rebounds, eighth in the RVC. Kessa Jones has the team lead with 52 assists, sixth in the River Valley.

Center Point-Urbana comes into the game with an overall record of 19-2. The Pointers are ranked No. 3 in the state in class 3A in the final poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. They advanced through the first round with a 68-32 win over Solon led by 14 points from Adrianna Katcher. On the season they are led by Callyn Fox scoring 14 points per game, third in the WAMAC West. Katcher leads the WAMAC with 76 assists. Ryley Goebel leads the Pointers on the glass with 125 boards.
