The Washington girls’ basketball team opened up their playoff push last night by knocking off Oskaloosa 44-28.
It was a slow but exciting first quarter, with nobody leading by more than one for the vast majority of the period and ending at 7-6 in Washington’s favor. The Demons got a spark under them in the second, sending it to a 7-point deficit at the break.
The second half saw the Demons light that spark into a flame, turning up the heat and taking it to the Indians by running away with the third quarter. It was second verse same as the first in the fourth quarter, with the Demons maintaining their comfortable lead throughout the rest of the game to take the 16-point win. Isabel Bailey led all scorers with 12 points, Olivia Pacha was just behind her with 10, while Addison Six finished with eight.
The next action for the Demon girls comes on Saturday when they hit the road to take on top-ranked Marion. That game will be live on KCII starting with the Washington HyVee Pregame Show starting at 6:30. Tip-off in Marion is scheduled for 7:00.
