WACO High School will host their second eSports tournament since the opening of their eSports arena last fall. WACO hosted their inaugural Fortnite tournament last November and science teacher and technology coach Drew Ayrit deemed it a success. Ayrit adds that the excitement that started at WACO has spread to other schools, “At the end of the day Saturday after the tournament was over, I had students, before they even left the building, come up to me going, ‘When’s the next one going to be?’ I woke up the next day and checked my email and had two or three emails from students from other districts saying, ‘When are we going to do this again?’ That just reinforced that we’re on the right path.”
Students will have the opportunity to compete in Fortnite at WACO High School March 2nd. The tournament is open to Iowa students between 13-18 years old. Registration will be from between 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on the day of the tournament. Players can fill out the online registration form here or fill one out before the event.
