The Highland girls’ basketball team finished the year with a 15-8 overall record and a fourth-place finish in the Southeast Iowa Superconference’s north division.  As a result of their success, all five of the Highland starters were named all-conference in one form or another.

Two Huskies were named to the first team in the form of Aly Stokes and Abbie Miller.  Miller finished at second on the team in scoring (13.3 ppg), and her 259 rebounds were good for second in all of Class 2A… and also second on the team behind Aly Stokes.  Stokes led the Huskies in scoring (17.3 ppg), assists (88), and steals (57).  Her 265 rebounds on the season were the most in Class 2A, and her 133 blocked shots were good for second in the state across all classes.  Stokes finishes her career at Highland in the top three in school history in both scoring and rebounding.

Sarah Schneider, also a senior, finished with second-team honors.  She was outstanding in assisting and stealing as well, finishing with 66 assists and 47 steals, each good for second on the team, to go with her 7 points per game.

Senior Kylie Wood and junior Alyssa Brase were the honorable mentions for the Huskies.  Wood’s primary role was to find her teammates and excel on defense, which is what she did by putting up 41 assists and 28 steals before her season was cut short due to injury.  Brase saw similar success, notching 48 assists and 28 steals while also finishing third on the team in total rebounds with 176.

Brase is the lone non-senior of the Huskies’ five all-conference players.  Stokes, Miller, Schneider and Wood all graduate.
