The Washington boys’ basketball team took to the road for the substate semifinals last night, taking the loss to sixth-ranked Oskaloosa 78-53.

Things were tight in the first quarter.  The Demons struck first and eventually had a 5-3 lead.  But Osky would surpass that and keep the lead while the Demons battled back to a six-point deficit after one.  But the Indians’ three-point onslaught was too much for the Demons to come back from as they watched Osky continue to pull away on the scoreboard, leading by as many as 32 points before the Demons cut the deficit back down to 25 at the final buzzer.  Luke Turner led all Demon scorers with 15 points.

The loss ends the Demons’ season with a record of 9-10, which is the most wins for the Washington boys’ basketball program since the 2011-2012 school year.  They will say goodbye to two seniors, Cade Hennigan and Kolten Hinrichsen, and bring back the remaining players.
