February in Washington was colder than normal. According to the National Weather Service, the average temperature last month was 19 degrees, while it is normally 25.5 degrees. The coldest February on record for Washington was in 1936 with an average temperature of 9.9 degrees. Last month, Washington had 9.2 inches of snow, two inches above normal.
So far this year, the average temperature is about 3.5 degrees below normal at 19.8 degrees. And since October, Washington has had 41.5 inches of snow, more than double the normal amount. The record was 44.2 inches of snowfall in 2010. Listen to KCII for weather updates.
