Washington County can be seen on television Thursday with a showing of Saving Brinton. The local documentary that follows Michael Zahs as he works to preserve and share the Frank Brinton collection of films, some of the oldest in the world, will be on Iowa Public Television. The retired history teacher says the films and documentary show Iowa’s importance in the entertainment industry, “We’re so close to it, that I don’t think we understand how much of a world wide importance it is. And how much it is part of everybody’s history. And even if you’re not interested in film, it shows what people were like 120 years ago. Hopefully, 120 years from now there’ll be something that’ll showcase us like we’re showcasing people from then.”
The shortened version of the documentary will be shown at 8:30 p.m. and during the breaks Zahs, along with filmmakers Andrew Sherburne and John Richard will be on live television speaking with the audience.
