University of Iowa health science students will be holding a free clinic in Columbus Junction this weekend. Services like blood pressure checks, physician consultations, and sports physicals will be provided free of charge. There will also be Spanish and Arabic interpreters to help bridge any language barriers.
Clinic Coordinator Caleb Fredrickson explains the impact this can have on a community, “This specific kind of free clinic is really useful because people don’t always understand that they can still see a provider, even if they don’t have insurance. A lot of people who don’t have insurance or do not speak English are much more wary to go to a physician than get their blood pressure checked or their cholesterol checked.”
The clinic will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Columbus Community Senior Center. Walk ins are welcome.
