Six members of the Iowa Mennonite School boys basketball team were recognized by the Southeast Iowa Superconference for their play during the recently concluded season.
Sophomore Eli Ours was a first team all-conference selection. Ours led IMS in scoring at 14 points per game, seventh in the Superconference. He led the Superconference among those with at least 50 free throw attempts on the year, going 75% at the stripe. His 74 assists were fourth in the Superconference, his 40 steals were fourth most, he committed the third fewest turnovers in class 1A and pulled in 63 rebounds.
Three seniors were second team all-conference selections including Trevor Leyden. Leyden scored 11 points per game and finished eighth in the conference with 32 made three point goals. His 46 steals were third in the league. His 54 assists were 10th in the conference and he also pulled down 63 rebounds.
Caleb Gingerich was also a second team pick. Gingerich averaged six points per game. He dished out 102 assists, third most in the conference. He also had 44 steals, fourth in the league to go along with 57 rebounds.
Jeremy Niemeyer was a second team all-SEISC selection. Niemeyer put up 11 points per contest on the year. His 129 rebounds were fifth most in the conference. His 21 blocked shots were also fifth.
IMS had a pair of honorable mention selections in Kobe Borntrager and Blake Bontrager. Borntrager, a junior, ended the year averaging seven points per game. He pulled in 89 rebounds, had 33 assists and 21 steals. Bontrager played the sixth man role for IMS, averaging five points per contest. He hauled in 62 rebounds and had 22 assists. IMS finished with a 13-7 overall record.
