“Learn it. Do it. Share it.” is the theme of this year’s Women in Agriculture Conference in Washington. It is the third annual conference. Field agronomist and organizer of the event Rebecca Vittetoe says it’s important to offer a conference for women who are involved in agriculture, “There’s a lot of women involved in agriculture, and so just having an event where they can network with other women. And so that’s another thing we’re going to feature this year is a networking event at the end of the conference to get some more interaction between the participants at the conference.” Four speakers will be featured: Julie Kenney, Iowa Deputy Secretary of Agriculture; Erin Brenneman, a local farmer who went from city life to farm life; Erin Herbold-Swalwell, an attorney who focuses on estate and succession planning; and Deadra Stanton, a motivational speaker.
Following the speakers, the networking hour will include wine, cheese, and chocolate tasting. The conference will be held March 23rd from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. To register contact the Washington County Extension Office. It is $25 for participants, or $15 for students.
