A sidewalk will be extended along East Washington Street in Washington this spring. At their recent meeting, the city council approved the estimate of cost and it will now be let for bids. City Administrator Brent Hinson said bids will be received on March 13th and the council will review them at the March 19th meeting. The estimated project cost is just under $145,000. Initially the cost of the project was going to be assessed to adjoining property owners, but now that the Wiley Subdivision is adding a business, it will be funded with the other infrastructure costs associated with the project, like sewer and water. The council has already waived the the assessments.
