The City of Brighton will have to appoint a new mayor. The appointment will be made at the next city council meeting. In February, Mayor David Hagans announced he was stepping down, he then named Rose Jaynes as mayor pro tem. Hagans was one year into his term. The role has been vacant since February 18th, and the city sent out a notice stating they will appoint a new mayor during the March 19th city council meeting. The appointed mayor will serve until the next election
