Flood warnings continue in the KCII-listening area along the Iowa, English, and Skunk Rivers. For the Iowa River near Lone Tree the warning is in effect until Monday with moderate flooding forecast. It is expected to rise to 19.2 feet Saturday with rainfall potentially pushing it higher. The Iowa River at Wapello is expected to rise to 23.6 feet Monday with flood stage there at 21 feet. At Oakville the warning is until further notice with moderate flooding expected. Flood stage is 11 feet and it is expected to rise to 17.6 feet Tuesday.

The English River at Kalona has a flood warning until Sunday with river levels expected to rise to 17.2 feet Friday night, more than three feet above flood stage.

Near Sigourney the Skunk River is expected to have a triple crest with it’s highest rise on Saturday over 20 feet. Flood stage there is 16 feet.

Washington County Emergency Management Coordinator Marissa Reisen says there is a significant chance of flooding in the area through the spring, especially with snowfalls to the north melting and coming downstream, “Once the ice jams are all gone, we’re looking at a significant flood risk. There’s 300% of snowfall in Minnesota this year, so that’s all going to come our way.” If you see a flooded road, turn around, don’t drown. Listen to KCII for weather updates.
