One candidate seeking the Democratic nomination for president is taking a tour of southeast Iowa. Beto O’Rourke will be in Mt. Pleasant and Washington Friday. At 9:30 a.m. he will hold a meet and greet in Mt. Pleasant at 120 South Main Street. That will be followed by a meet and greet at Art Domestique at 1:30 p.m. in downtown Washington. The former Texas Congressman announced his presidential campaign this week. In a state that hasn’t elected a Democrat to the Senate for 30 years, O’Rourke ran against Republican Ted Cruz for a U.S. Senate seat and narrowly lost last cycle, finishing less than 3% of the vote behind Cruz.
