Central College has the spotlight for the track and field world in the state of Iowa Friday as the Kuyper Fieldhouse plays host to the Central Indoor boys track meet.
Both the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks and the Iowa Mennonite School boys will be in action. Mid-Prairie opened the indoor season last week at UNI and the Dickinson Relays. Top finishes for the Hawks last week included Micah Gugel 31st in the shot put, Aidan Rath 72nd in the 200, Elmir Ganibegovic 84th in the 60m dash, Thaddeus Shetler 118th in the 800 and Carter Harmsen 135th in the 400. In relay events, the Golden Hawk 4×400 team was 21st, the 4×200 team 30th and the 4×800 team 32nd.
This is the first competition of the year for the IMS boys. They saw success a season ago with increased numbers and Levi Geyer qualifying for the state meet. This season they return Toby Chen and Aaron Hershberger on the boys side from a year ago, while adding John Hughes and Brian Nchoe.
Action continues all day Friday in Pella.
