Sigourney received a half-a-million dollar grant for improvements to their wastewater plant. The $500,000 grant is part of the $4.1 million Community Development Block Grant. The Iowa Economic Development Authority selected 12 communities in the state to receive funding for water and sewer infrastructure projects. IEDA Director Debi Durham said in a statement, “Assisting communities to invest in their infrastructure projects is an important step in helping them become development-ready.” The $500,000 given to the Sigourney wastewater plant was the maximum amount of money the IEDA awarded.
