
Emergency crews responded to a house fire in Washington Monday night.
A two-story house at the intersection of D Avenue and West Madison Street caught fire at about 6:30 p.m. Highway 92 had to be closed for crews to work to extinguish the fire. Firefighters from the Washington and Ainsworth Fire Departments responded to the scene, as well as the Washington County Ambulance, Washington Police, and Alliant Energy. Siding was removed and ladders were seen going to the second floor of the blue house. The Washington Fire Chief will be in contact with the State Fire Marshall’s Office. No injuries were reported.
Firefighters returned at 4:40 a.m. Tuesday when more flames were seen in the home. Washington Fire Department responded and again had to close a portion of Highway 92.
