The Mid-Prairie boys soccer team is ready for their first action against a live opponent tonight when they travel to Spartan Stadium to take on Solon in a scrimmage.

The Golden Hawks finished last year with a 6-4 overall record. The Hawks return all but three goals from last year’s scoring including Ashton VanWinkle who led the team with 15 and Zeus Fugate who was second with 12. The Hawks also return experience in net with Keaton Graber and Beau Stutzman splitting time there a season ago and both are back.

Solon wrapped up last season in the substate final, falling to IMS by a 3-0 score. The Spartans had an overall record of 15-5. Solon returns their top three scorers who combined for 46 goals a season ago, led by Jorel Justus with 23. The Spartans will be looking to replace Eric Weetman in goal after more than 1,300 minutes played on the line last year. Action begins tonight at 6p.m. at Solon High School.
