Mid-Prairie is looking to wrap up a two-phase kitchen remodeling project this summer. At the recent school board meeting, they accepted a bid from Rapids Foodservice for $92,127. The second half of the project will include replacing the ovens, painting the walls, and installing new flooring in the kitchen in the Mid-Prairie Middle School. This kitchen handles the food services for the middle school and both elementary schools. Phase one of the project took place last summer, that featured a new walk in freezer and changes to the traffic flow and serving patterns for the kitchen. This is the first major renovation of the kitchen since the original construction in the 1960’s, according to Superintendent Mark Schnieder. The total cost of the project is expected to fall just over $200,000.
