A man in Mount Pleasant was sentenced to prison after he re-entered the United States illegally. According to the Department of Justice, 29-year-old Ricardo Macias Saucedo formerly of Mount Pleasant has been sentenced to prison in the amount of time already served for unlawful re-entry into the United States. It was determined by Immigration and Customs Enforcement that Saucedo was not authorized to be in the country after a federal search warrant was executed in Mount Pleasant last May.
In 2008, immigration officials removed Saucedo from the United States and he had not received permission to re-enter the country. He pleaded guilty on November 8th. Since Saucedo has been serving time in prison he will be released to the custody of ICE.
The case was investigated by ICE and the Department of Homeland Security, and prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of Iowa.
