The Mid-Prairie boys track and field team was in action Thursday at the River Valley Conference Indoor Championship meet at the University of Dubuque.
The Hawks placed seventh of 13 teams with an overall score of 23 points. Bellevue won the meet with 103 points. Top finishes for the Golden Hawks included Aidan Rath fourth in the 200 with a time of 24.21 seconds. Rath was also ninth in the 55m and the high jump. Micah Gugel took seventh in the shot put with a throw of 43’1″. Tom Butters was seventh in the long jump at 18’4.50″. Thaddeus Shetler was 10th in the 800 with a time of 2:17.16. Miles Burrows finished in 11th in the 55m hurdles with a time of 9.24 seconds. Spencer Yutzy was 14th in the 1600 in 5:20.47 and Dylan Bunting was 14th in the 400 in 59.91 seconds
In relay events, the Mid-Prairie 4×200 team of Quinn Schmidt, Grant Boyse, Tom Butters and Elmir Ganibegovic were runners up in 1:37.10, the 4×400 team of Schmidt, Boyse, Ganibegovic and Burrows was third in 3:40.19, and the 4×800 team of Burrows, Shetler, Brad Tornow and Yutzy were third in 9:03.92. The Mid-Prairie boys will open up the outdoor season Thursday when they travel to Mount Pleasant.
