The Washington Demon and Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls track teams travel to Mount Pleasant Thursday.
The Washington boys and girls were last in action earlier this week at the Falcon Relays at West Burlington. The Demon boys placed second in the large school division taking home one championship on the night with the sprint medley team of Cade Hennigan, Jacob Miller, Spencer Sotelo and Mitchell Driscoll taking gold.
The Demons girls were third in the large school division at West Burlington. Washington finished with two event titles on the night as Jenah Greiner took the championship in the long jump and Ashley Telleen won the 100 hurdles.
The Mid-Prairie boys last ran at the River Valley Conference Indoor Championships in Dubuque. The Hawks were seventh of 13 teams. Top finishes for the Golden Hawks included Aidan Rath fourth in the 200 and ninth in the 55m and high jump. Micah Gugel was seventh in the shot put, Tom Butters was seventh in the long jump and Thaddeus Shetler 10th in the 800.
The Mid-Prairie girls will also open the outdoor season tonight at Mount Pleasant. They were last in action in Ames at the Iowa State Indoor meet. The Hawks had one champion at Iowa State with Marie Hostetler taking the win in the 3000. Mitzi Evans was seventh in the 800, Amber Swart was 15th in the 60m, and the 4×400 team of Angelina Evans, Abbagail Evans, Sarah Meader and Mitzi Evans were eighth.
Joining the Golden Hawks and Demons in Mount Pleasant are Davenport Assumption, Davenport North, Fairfield, Fort Madison, Iowa City City High, Ottumwa and West Burlington, Notre Dame. Action begins at 4:30 and continues into the evening at the Mapleleaf Athletic Complex.
