Mid-Prairie will be represented on this year’s Educators of Iowa All-State Jazz Band. Sophomore Cooper Thomas will be playing guitar at the concert that features the best high school jazz musicians in the state.

Band Director David Kunz explains how prestigious the All-State Jazz Band is, “It’s quite an audience, because the audience is usually made up of about 80% of all the band directors in the state of Iowa, and 10% of all of the best high school  jazz musicians in the state of Iowa. The other 10% is college jazz educators scouting. The All-State Jazz Band is the number one scouting trip for college jazz directors.”

Cooper, along with the rest of the Class 2A All-State Jazz Band, will perform May 9th at the Marriott in downtown Des Moines.
